Markings for EX Trucks
Only Explosion Proof (EX) Equipment that has been tested and approved for use in
Hazardous Classified Areas by a NRTL can be marked accordingly. EX Trucks must
be clearly
identified with the EX Marker and signs must be posted at the entrances to EX
environments. EX Trucks must be marked with a warning label and must be marked
with a nameplate showing the approved Class, Group
and operating temperature.

Nameplate Marking
Classified EX Equipment is required to have a nameplate with specific
markings. "Approved Equipment shall be marked to show the

40°C ambient." NEC 2002, Article 500.8(B)
The nameplate is provided by the
testing laboratory and is affixed to the approved equipment. A standard Gregory nameplate for a Type EX Industrial Truck is below:

"Equipment not marked to indicate a
division, or marked 'Division 1' or 'Div. 1,' is suitable for both Division 1 and 2 locations.
Equipment marked 'Division 2' or 'Div. 2' is suitable for Division 2
locations only." NEC 2002, Article 500.8(B)
